Hi Ali, thanks for hosting this challenge. I’m in! This is my post: http://klasikfanda.blogspot.com/2012/06/literary-classics-reading-challenge.html
Glad you made it! Your list looks wonderful. I’ve read some of your titles, Scarlet Letter, The Old Man and the Sea and a few others. I want to hear your thoughts about these books on our Friday check-ins. I am looking forward to learning about the books i have’t read yet. Welcome and happy reading!
I just accepted the challenge!

Welcome, Paula. We are going to have so much fun. Did I see you on the Facebook Challenge page yesterday? What are you reading now?
Hi Ali! Thanks for this challenge. It’s lit that fire I’ve had under me to tackle those books I’ve been wanting to get to for ages… in conjunction with the others on my to-read list! Thanks again… looking forward to seeing what others are reading too!
Oops…here’s my link: http://tonyalit.typepad.com/tonyariceblog/2012/06/the-literary-classics-reading-challenge.html
Tonya, this will be fun. For me, having a deadline with others is inspiring. It produces energy to get the job done. Funny to think that reading great books is a job to get done. That sounds different than I mean it. I don’t know about you but I have a lot of responsibilities that need and some times demand my attention. If I don’t put heart felt desires on the calendar they slip through the cracks. Let me know if I can encourage you in any way to get your list read.
Thanks, Ali, for your reply. I’ve got oodles of stuff on my plate, with our family business (which seems to never have set hours), kids AND writing my book. However, I HAVE to continue reading novels in the meantime. I’m just as lost when I’m not reading as I feel when I’m not writing. They both make up my “me” time, my “down” time. Your challenge will help push me along in my dedication to get to these books and I’ll definitely stay in touch! Thanks again
I understand oodles of stuff on your plate. Check in when you can but don’t let it become a pressure. I think we will all read more when it’s pleasurable. If the challenge becomes a job, it’s easy to push it off the plate and that would be sad.
So true, but oh what a scary thought, isn’t it?
I will definitely be checking in though! I really appreciate your encouragement! It makes it fun.
Looking forward to this challenge! I have quiet a few classics on my list, not sure which ones I’m going to read but I’m hoping to read at least one per month.
At our house we read one a month. I’m happy you are here. Please link in with a post from your site showing your reading goals. I’m anxious to see them.
My starting goal is one classic a month and I’ll probably post when I finish a book rather than each week. I posted my list to the sidebar of my blog so you can check on my progress any time: http://lesannberry.com/ . I also have an information post going live at the end of the month so that all the twitter users I can reach will get a notice about the challenge.
I love this idea and in case no one has checked…many of the classics are available for free downloads as ebooks on both Amazon and Project Gutenberg. Some are available in various translations so you can read in more than one language or select a translator that you prefer, and almost all of them are in most lending libraries.
Thanks Ali for coordinating all this!
Lesann, thanks for reminding us that most classics are free and available in many languages. I look forward to your check ins at the end of your books. I really want to hear your impressions and insights. When your informational post goes out will you message me or something? I want to read. Love you and really happy we are reading together.
Hey Ali, I was just reading the blog of a friend and she talked about this challenge and how she joined (NonMom) and linked to your site! http://nonmom.wordpress.com/2012/06/19/reading-challenge/
I’m going to put your link on my blog page too! This is such a good idea!
A bit late, I hope that’s OK.
